14 DAY TRIAL // Slitherine fans were probably ecstatic when the publisher/developer revealed two years ago their new strategy game: Starship Troopers - Terran Command. Unfortunately, after announcing a 2020 release date for the game, Starship Troopers – Terran Command was pushed back into 2021.
Still, considering the Cyberpunk 2077 fiasco, that's really not a bad thing. As a matter of fact, Slitherine now has more time to hype up the game and even run a beta. For those who haven't heard about the game, Starship Troopers – Terran Command is a single-player, real-time strategy game set in the classic Starship Troopers movie universe.
Earlier today, Slitherine showed some Starship Troopers – Terran Command beta footage and announced a tentative release date for the game. If you want to participate in the beta, you can sign up on on the game's website right now.
According to Slitherine, the campaign features 21 missions and the intro will be familiar to all who have seen the 1997 sci-fi film classic, Starship Troopers, from TriStar Pictures. You will first take part in the infamous attack on Klendathu: as in the movie, the action starts with a gung-ho assault, but soon takes a turn for the worse, culminating in a general retreat from the planet.
Then, players will be deployed to the harsh, desert planet of Kwalasha where they will take part in an exciting military campaign, ship out to amazing and varied locations, and experience the heroic war against the Bugs, all presented live on FedNet.
As the story unfolds, players will progress from a green platoon leader leading recruits fresh from training to a rugged veteran commanding elite forces across the war-torn planet. Slitherine promises players a genuine Starship Troopers feel that consists of violence and gore.
The game will include an expansive range of unique units, weapons, and special abilities. Infantry squads armed with Morita Assault Rifles and MX-90 Fragmentation Grenades form the mainstay of your forces, as well as Rocket Troopers who will deliver deadly payloads with pinpoint accuracy, while Engineers vitally shore up defensive positions with MG turrets, barricades, and minefields.
Apparently, Slitherine targets mid-June for the release of Starship Troopers – Terran Command, but will provide more updates on the matter in the coming months.
