Microsoft has just announced that a new version of Skype is now available for download via Google Play Store.

Android users will be pleased to know that the latest update brings some interesting new features and improvements meant to enhance Skype overall experience.

The most important addition in this update seems to be the ability to save video messages. When you record a video or receive an exceptional video message that you want to store in your phone, you will now be able to tap on it to save it in your phone's photo gallery.

But that's not the only major change included in this update. The Skype Team has also confirmed that users will now be able to share photos from their photo gallery directly to a Skype group conversation.

Moreover, in group chats, users will now be able to tap on images and files to forward them to another contact or group.

Improved Mojis, conversations management

The Moji system inside Skype has been upgraded, so users can now tap on a cool Moji to forward it to another friend or group. In addition, Mojis won't play again automatically when you forward them, but you can decide if you want to play it again by tapping on it.

The new version of Skype for Android features enhanced search, which means users can now search for conversation content, in addition to contacts and group names.

Last but not least, the update will allow users to keep track of special Skype moments and the most important conversations. Simply long-tap on a contact or chat in the Recents tab to bring up a new toolbar that will allow you to delete, mark as read, or mute notifications.

You can now download Skype for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.
