Great news for Skype users, as Microsoft has just announced the addition of another major feature to its popular instant messaging application, group video calling.

The feature has been available on PCs for quite some time now, but the Skype Team has decided that it will make a nice surprise for their 10-year celebration.

According to developers, the new feature will be available for free on all three major platforms: Android, iOS, and Windows 10 Mobile.

“Ten years ago, NASA’s Stardust mission successfully brought back interstellar dust from a comet and the cloud existed only in the sky. That same year, Skype launched a new innovation – free video calling.

“Yes, it really has been a decade since Skype changed the way people connect with their loved ones. 6 years ago, we innovated again with one-to-one video calling on mobile phones,” said Skype's Gurdeep Pall.

Users can pre-register for a sneak peek

However, if you want a preview of the new group video calling feature available via Skype, you can pre-register on Microsoft's website. You will have to provide developers with various details like email address, Skype name, country, and what OS you're using.

If you don't have the application yet, you can now download Skype for Windows 10 Mobile for free via Windows Store. The application is fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows 10 Mobile.

For iOS users, the application can be downloaded for free via App Store. It should work smoothly on all devices running iOS 7.0 or later.

Last but not least, you can download Skype for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.

Keep in mind that you don't have to download anything right now since the new group video calling feature will be automatically rolled out in waves in the coming weeks.
