Today is a day of delays. After we've learned that Kena: Bridge of Spirits was delayed by one month, we've just received news that SkateBIRD is getting the same treatment. Neither of the two games will be launched in August as previously announced, instead, players will have to wait until September to play both of them.

The folks at Glass Bottom Games, the studio behind the avian action sports game SkateBIRD, announced their title is now scheduled for release on September 16. Initially planned for an August 12 arrival, SkateBIRD will launch on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility, Xbox Game Pass, PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam, Itch.io, and Amazon Luna.

Along with the new release date, developer Glass Bottom Games also confirmed post-launch support, including the much-anticipated “Pet The Bird Mode”' and Skate Heaven stage. More information regarding future content updates will be available following the game's launch.

In addition, SkateBIRD’s simultaneous PC and console launch will feature a range of updates and polish, including mission objective refinements, UI and sound improvements, a camera overhaul, and more.

In a statement for fans, the studio emphasized the need for extra time for additional polish and updated UI. It also highlighted the hardships of having a game launched on multiple platforms at the same time:

This wasn’t an easy decision. But SkateBIRD was always a game about doing your best, and we owe it to our backers, fans, and fellow bird enthusiasts to ship the game in its best state. As a small indie studio, completing certification on multiple platforms requires plenty of extra work. Launching on September 16, 2021, lets us ramp up our efforts to ensure SkateBIRD comes to PC and consoles on the same day!” said Megan Fox, founder, Glass Bottom Games.

SkateBIRD will be available for just $19.99 when it launches in September, and it will support multiple languages options including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).
