14 DAY TRIAL // The Sid Meier’s Civilization series returns to consoles with the six major installment in the franchise. 2K announced earlier today that Civilization VI is now available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for $60. Unfortunately, the price is only for the base game, so if you want all the other DLCs, you'll have to come up with an extra $50 for the Civilization VI Expansion Bundle.
Along with the Civilization VI release on Xbox One and PS4, 2K revealed that the Civilization VI Expansion Bundle, which contains both the Rise and Fall and Gathering Storms expansions, is launching on Nintendo Switch.
The Expansion Bundle includes 16 new civilizations, 18 new leaders and major enhancements to gameplay, such as Great Ages and natural disasters influenced by the player’s impact on the living planet, the pursuit of building the greatest empire is as exciting as ever, so it might be worth the price if you're a fan of strategy games.
On the other hand, the base game offers access to 24 different leaders (27 for PlayStation 4) from various countries around the world and throughout history. You'll be able to unlock boosts that speed your empire's progress through history, but you'll have to explore hard at the beginning of the game and develop your cities fast.
2K also revealed that Civilization VI for Xbox One and PS4 includes four playable scenarios, each with a different setting and style of gameplay inspired by history. In each of these unique scenarios, players will be part of the colonization of Australia in “Outback Tycoon,” defend Poland from invaders in “Jadwiga’s Legacy,” choose a Viking leader to conquer Europe in “Vikings, Raiders, and Traders!” or conquer the known world in the “Conquests of Alexander.”
And to make things interesting for those who consider themselves competitive gamers, Civilization VI includes both co-op and competitive multiplayer modes with up to four players who can cooperate or compete for supremacy via online multiplayer.
