The charger will still be there, according to a report

A few years ago when Apple launched the iPhone X with the controversial notch that everybody uses these days, Samsung was one of the first companies to mock its rival, and the South Koreans have even launched an entire marketing campaign based on the whole thing.

Unsurprisingly, however, Samsung ended up using the same notch, though in a different form, on some of its models, showing once again that no matter if we like it or not, Apple often dictates the trends in the mobile world.

And now Samsung is believed to be planning a similar move a la Apple, this time concerning the accessories that ship with new phones.

More specifically, a report from South Korean media indicates that Samsung could actually remove the earbuds from the Galaxy S21 box, thus forcing customers who need such an accessory to buy them separately. Samsung currently includes AKG-tuned earphones in the box of Galaxy smartphones, and if the report is accurate, then the company would drop them in an attempt to reduce the cost of new devices.

The charger stays in the box for now

The good news is that the charger would still come with the phone, unlike in the Apple world where customers already have to buy it separately.

One exception from Samsung’s new policy could be France, where the local government requires device makers to include earphones with their new devices. This is also the only country where the iPhone still comes with such an accessory in the box too.

The Galaxy S21 is expected to be announced in January next year, while the actual sales could begin later the same month. This is because Samsung wants to take the wraps off the Galaxy S21 earlier than originally planned, as the company typically unveils Galaxy S models in February.
