14 DAY TRIAL // Developer Mimimi Games, the studio behind Desperados 3, has just revealed gameplay footage for its upcoming Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun expansion called Aiko’s Choice. Also, a release window for the expansion has been announced too.
First off, Aiko's Choice won’t be out until December 2021. Secondly, this is a standalone expansion, so it’s doesn’t require the base game to play. However, we strongly recommend checking out Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, as it’s one of the best takes on the Commandos formula we’ve played to date.
In Aiko’s Choince, players will be sent once again to Edo Japan, where they will join the kunoichi adept Aiko and her companions in her quest to quiet the ghosts of her past. The new gameplay trailer released at gamescom 2021 showcases the stunning landscapes and interesting cast of Aiko’s Choice.
For those who’ve already played through Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, it’s worth noting that the gameplay trailer also teases the return of a fan favorite character.
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun - Aiko´s Choice focuses on one of the main game's protagonists: the kunoichi adept Aiko. She is a master of camouflage and distracts enemies disguised as a geisha. Together with her friends, a group of deadly assassins, she sets out to hunt down the ghosts of her past.
No price has been announced for Aiko’s Choice, but we do know the expansion features three full-fledged main missions, set in brand-new environments, and three shorter interlude missions.
Just like in the main game, Aiko’s Choice lets you take control of a team of lethal specialists, move in the shadows and sneak past dozens of enemies. You’ll have to choose your approach wisely when infiltrating hidden forest camps or lively Edo-period towns, as to not sound the alarm.
To help you remain unseen, developers have included a plethora of weapons and gadgetry, including traps and poisons. Just make sure to carefully plan your every move to complete each of the challenging missions and uncover Aiko´s past.
