Microsoft cuts the price of the new Band

Microsoft has recently launched the second-generation Band smart wristband, so it's only natural to expect the company to cut the price of the first model in order to clear up inventories and make more room for its successor.

But in the United Kingdom, Microsoft has taken everyone by surprise and discounted the new Band, cutting the price of the device in its Amazon store by 5 percent.

The new Band now costs £189.99 ($285 / €265), down from £199.99 ($300 / €278) for a limited time, so although the discount might not seem big at first glance, this is the lowest price for the second-generation Microsoft wristband in the United Kingdom.

The offer is available for all three sizes and is only valid for the United Kingdom, but Microsoft could launch similar price cuts in some other markets too very soon. With Christmas just around the corner, Microsoft's rolling out discounts on more devices in as many markets as possible, so hopefully, bigger cuts for the Band could be announced sometime in the coming weeks.

The second-generation Band

As we told you in our Microsoft Band 2 review, the main upgrade brought to us by the new version of the device is the curved screen, which is supposed to make it a little bit more comfortable to wear on both the inside and the outside of the wrist.

And yet, in the last few weeks, we've noticed that the Band 2 is actually way more comfortable when worn on the inside of the wrist, with the pressure applied by the sensors and the battery on your hand being noticeable lower.

Just as its predecessor, the new Band is packed with sensors, but it also adds a barometer, which acts more like an altimeter that measures elevation more accurately. Otherwise, the device can be used for a wide variety of activities, including running, workouts, and even golf.
