14 DAY TRIAL // According to reports, Sean Penn was convinced that he and Charlize Theron would grow old together, but it wasn’t meant to be: the two dated for almost 2 years and broke up earlier this year. The split wasn’t amicable, but Sean is done moping around for Charlize, and he’s hooking up with his ex-wife Madonna.
In September this year, the actor was spotted in the audience at Madonna’s New York City show from the Rebel Heart Tour. She even dedicated one of the songs to him, which first set tongues wagging about a possible new romance.
Sean Penn attends Madonna’s shows now Before performing a song, Madonna said she wanted to dedicate it to someone special in the audience, someone who, 30 years before, had told her that her music and her life performances weren’t good enough. She found it hilarious that it would take that man (Sean Penn, obviously) 30 years to finally appreciate her art, but that’s what marriage meant to her.
While this was happening on stage, Sean was seen smiling in the audience.
The dating rumor would have probably ended with this if he hadn’t been photographed at her Vancouver show as well, on October 14. This time, he was with Amy Schumer, who had opened for Madonna that night, so it was clear that he was a VIP - as opposed to just another big-time celebrity, out for a night of fun at a concert.
Madonna didn’t dedicate a new song to him, but the sight of him in the audience, clearly having a good time and beaming up at his ex-wife, was enough to get people questioning the status of their relationship.
After all, it’s not like they were known to hang out together before!
They’re back together, though not officially yet
Radar Online is now putting those rumors to paper, citing inside sources as confirmation that Sean and Madonna are a couple again or, at the very least, hooking up while she’s on tour.
For the record, the two were married for 3 years, starting with 1986. There was never any actual evidence to support this, but rumor has it that the relationship was particularly difficult because Penn was prone to mood swings and violent outbursts.
It seems that all this is water under the bridge now: Radar says that Penn was booked in the same hotel as Madonna in Vancouver, during both her performances here, and that “he’s then expected to follow her to Los Angeles for the latest leg of her world tour” and might even “fly together to Europe on October 29, said a source.”
Madonna prefers to date much younger men, so maybe this is true love.
