If you love 4X strategy games, you'll be happy to know that publisher Slithering and developer Atomic Kaiser have just outed Astra Exodus, a game that pays homage to the classics from the 90s. Astra Exodus is now available on PC via Steam for $25 / €25, a decent price for a game that will probably offer you dozens of hours of fun.

Our goal, which is also somehow a responsibility as one of the leaders of the strategy gaming niche, is to support indie developers with solid ideas, a vision for innovation and their feet planted on the ground of this genre. We have the possibility of giving selected projects bigger visibility, substantial marketing support and two decades of experience in publishing games into an ever-changing market. Astra Exodus is a project we strongly believe in and Atomic Kaiser is a developer we are proud to support and endorse,” said Marco A. Minoli, Marketing Director of Slitherine.

Astra Exodus is a story-driven 4x sci-fi strategy game where you lead the Human faction in search of the lost home planet – Earth. Just like most other titles in the same genre, this is a sandbox game, which means every campaign played is unique.

For starters, players can choose one of the eight main factions, but they can also create one of their own, and then explore the galaxy, conquer a star cluster, fight for Galactic Conquest, or go for a peaceful approach – a Diplomatic Alliance.

Apart from managing your factions resources and starfleet, you'll also have to do battles. Astra Exodus features a real-time battle system, both in space and on the ground, where you can pause to give orders or speed up the pace.

Astra Exodus is no Star Trek, but you might get the same vibes when you explore the galaxy, colonize hospitable planets, build cities and factories, or prepare to defend them.
