AliExpress Shopping App now available for download

While eBay and Amazon have both abandoned Windows phones (although Amazon still offers an app that’s more of a web wrapper), there are other companies that still believe in Microsoft’s mobile platform.

And Alibaba seems to be one of these companies, as it just launched the AliExpress Shopping App on Windows 10 devices, making it possible for users on both PCs and smartphones to shop online on one of the largest marketplaces out there.

While this little app comes in handy to so many users, here’s something that’s worth saying from the very beginning. The AliExpress app available on Windows 10 also looks more like a web wrapper, so no matter if you use the browser or this app, the features you get are pretty much the same.

Users not impressed with the app

Reviews posted in the Windows Store clearly show that users expected more, especially given the fact that the AliExpress app is supposed to be universal and take advantage of all the features that are available in Windows 10, such as Cortana and live tiles.

“Well if you want to make a UWP, MAKE IT GOOD! If you don't want to make it good, DON'T MAKE IT, we rather use Microsoft Edge to browse your website! A Web-Wrapper is NOT AN APP, it is just a simplified version of the browser. Since it is just a Web-App, I can make it in 5 minutes as long as I have the website ready. Alibaba, think about your customer, please! We do NOT want a browser, instead we want a REAL APP! Very disappointed to what Alibaba did to Windows users,” one such review reads.

On the other hand, it’s important to have in mind that this is just the first version of the app, so maybe the company is planning on improving it substantially in the coming releases.

You can download AliExpress for Windows 10 here for both PCs and smartphones to find out on your own if it’s worth the effort or not.
