Samsung has finally taken the wraps off its next-generation Tizen-powered smartphone, the Z3. The handset has been rumored for quite some time now, but we only knew the Z3 should be unveiled sometime this year.

Today, Samsung officially introduced the Z3 in India and confirmed the smartphone should be available for purchase beginning October 21.

Customers who want to buy this affordable Tizen smartphone will be able to do so for only Rs 8,490 outright, which is about $130 or €115. Samsung Z3 will be available in three color options: Black, Gold and Silver.

Samsung Z3 will come pre-loaded with Tizen 2.3 OS onboard and many nifty features like Ultra Data Saving Mode, advanced viewing and camera capabilities, as well as longer battery life.

Spec-wise, the Z3 sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

On the inside, Samsung Z3 is equipped with a 1.3GHz Spreadtrum processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

An affordable smartphone with some great features

The smartphone packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features Bright Lens f/2.2 aperture, autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for advanced selfies capabilities.

Samsung Z3 is powered by a long-lasting 2,600 mAh battery with “Ultra Saving Mode,” which should provide up to 33 hours of standby with less than 10% of battery life.

It's also worth mentioning that the Z3 offers both 3G and dual-SIM support, as well as “Ultra Data Saving Mode,” which should provide data compression and management capabilities for up to 40% less mobile data usage.

While Samsung introduced the Tizen-powered smartphone in India only, we expect the Z3 to be available in several other emerging markets by the end of the year.

”As a pioneer of Tizen platform, we have continuously introduced Tizen-based mobile devices, including Samsung Z1 and Samsung Gear S2, in our commitment to develop the Tizen ecosystem.”

“We developed the Samsung Z3 to provide the features that will help consumers capitalize on the growing Tizen ecosystem and make the most out of their personal mobile experience,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Business at Samsung Electronics.
