Samsung is a prolific company that has infiltrated itself in a lot of niches. The South Korean behemoth makes everything from headphones to washing machines, smartphones and intelligent ovens.

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise when we tell you that Samsung has now become interested in social applications like WhatsApp or Viber.

Actually, the device maker has recently released its own messaging app called Socializer Messenger. Interested parties can download it for free from the Google Play Store.

You might be wondering why Samsung felt the need to produce yet another social messaging app, as it’s not like there aren’t plenty of options available in the Play store right now. Well, the answer is that Socializer Messenger does bring to the table a unique functionality other applications don’t offer.

Samsung’s new app is based on the “Telegram for Android” open-source project and it should allow users to share and use web apps in the chat room without having to actually download them on their phone.

Socializer brings an interesting tweak

So if you want to keep your handset clutter-free, Sammy’s app is the right way to go. The app makes use of the Social Web App Platform (SWAP) that allows the creation, distribution and sharing of various apps via messenger.

Like in the case of WhatsApp and other similar applications, if you want to try out Socializer, you’ll need to convince your friends and family to download and install the app themselves. Only after this condition is fulfilled will you be able to share apps and games via its interface.

Samsung’s new app endeavor might also prove useful to developers, as they will be able to develop and distribute their works via social means.

The Socializer app is available for download via the Google Play Store, so that means it’s not exclusive to Samsung’s own host of smartphones and anyone with an Android handset at its disposal can give it a go.

The question is whether you are willing to forget about your old messaging habits like WhatsApp or Viber. You’ll also have to convince others to download it, but the prospect of using apps without actually downloading them might be a good reason for them to do so.
