Samsung will be hosting the Unpacked 2017 event on March 29, during which it will unveil its first flagship since the launch of the Galaxy Note 7. In anticipation of this event, Samsung released promo videos and even a mobile app.

Samsung Unpacked 2017 app is available on Android and iOS, and it incorporates promotional videos that the company showcased during MWC and released recently. Samsung has gone out of its way to promote the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, as the company even started airing a new TV ad in Korea.

The application reveals the exact hour when the Unpacked 2017 event will be hosted in New York City and London. It also has a timer counting down to the media event in New York, which will be live streamed starting with 11 am EDT.

Registrations will begin on Wednesday, March 22

The Unpacked 2017 app also has a section for users to register by providing their email address and invitation code. Registrations are set to begin on Wednesday, March 22, but Samsung hasn’t actually mentioned what users are registering for.

Presumably, Samsung will offer users the possibility to get timely notifications and info about the new phone before its unveiling live streams inside the app. Many smartphone makers allow fans to register with an email address on their official website and received various details and teasers before official announcements.

It’s a way to keep fans close and offer them insights into new products before they reach everyone else. Moreover, the app could be used by guests to the physical Unpacked 2017 event in order to gain quick access with their e-tickets.

Samsung took the matter a bit further and launched a special app for the Unpacked 2017 event, thus confirming the importance of this event for Samsung’s influence in the smartphone market.
