Samsung is known to release all sort of variants of its flagships, and the South Korean company is said to be unveiling an Olympic edition of its Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone pretty soon. The release date has been unknown, but now the manufacturer has announced that the device will debut on July 7.

Images of Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition leaked online last month, revealing its design, to go along with rumors on its specs. It was known that Samsung intended to unveil the smartphone well before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, which start on August 5 and end on August 21.

The company has just confirmed on its German website (via SamMobile) that the Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition will see the light of day on July 7. The handset is expected to come with roughly the same specs as the Galaxy S7 Edge, which was released earlier this year.

This means that the Olympic Edition should have a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890, depending on the region. Rear camera capacity reaches 12MP, with 5MP on the front. Battery capacity is 3,600mAh.

Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition should come with custom wallpapers and a theme

Previously leaked images showed that the smartphone would have five different colors on the display. The Olympic edition will have a black body and sport gold color tones around the home button and the earpiece. Images also suggest that the smartphone will have red tones around the power and green on volume toggles. The colors are the same as the ones used on the Olympics Games logo.

It is also said that the phone will come with some custom wallpapers and possibly a theme related to the Olympics Games. Samsung could also offer special e-coupons and discounts.

Details on price and availability aren’t available yet, but the smartphone is expected to be more widely available, unlike some of Samsung’s other special editions. Either way, Samsung will be providing many more details during next week’s unveiling.
