While the Galaxy Note 9 is just around the corner, the Samsung Galaxy S10 is getting much more attention these days, pretty much because it’s expected to be the model bringing substantial upgrades to Samsung’s flagship phone lineup.

A new report that’s making the rounds today straight from South Korea indicates that Samsung wants to launch three different Galaxy S10 models in early 2019, mostly as a response to Apple’s iPhone trio due in September.

Apple is believed to be working on a direct successor to the iPhone X with a 5.8-inch OLED display, a more affordable version with a 6.1-inch LCD panel, and a Plus-sized iPhone X with a 6.5-inch OLED.

Beyond 0, Beyond 1, and Beyond 2

And according to today’s news, Samsung is also planning a similar lineup with three different models, the biggest of which will also include the most substantial upgrades. First, it’s going to be the model codenamed Beyond 0, which will feature a 5.8-inch flat (without curved edges) display. A single camera will be used on the back, as it’s expected to be positioned as the more affordable alternative to the premium Galaxy S10 lineup.

The next model in the series is referred to as Beyond 1, and it could feature a 5.8-inch Infinity Display with dual curved edges, just like the Galaxy S9. In this case, however, Samsung could use a dual-camera configuration and position the device as a successor to the Galaxy S9.

And last but not least, it’s Beyond 2, the model that will be marketed as the flagship of flagships and featuring a 6.2-inch display with dual-curved edges and a triple-camera configuration. Samsung could go for an approach similar to the one used by Huawei for the P20 Pro and use a mix of a variable aperture lens, with telephoto and wide-angle sensor.

The Galaxy S10 could see daylight in early 2019, most likely in January, with sales to begin later the same month or in February.
