This time, the company’s laptops are the ones to blame

I must admit that every time I see Samsung and overheating in the same sentence, I can’t help but think of the Galaxy Note 7 blunder that happened so many years ago.

And yet, despite the Note 7 being a rather old story, its overheating problems continue to haunt Samsung, especially as people continue to accuse the company of shipping some products with such issues.

This is what happens in the United States, as plaintiff Haley Williams has filed a lawsuit against the South Korean company, claiming its laptops are suffering from overheating.

Sure enough, computers getting very warm isn’t something surprising. In fact, it’s something they do especially when you require them to run more demanding tasks. In the case of laptops, the cooling systems aren’t necessarily as effective as those installed on a desktop computer, for instance, so some sort of overheating is more or less normal.

Williams, however, claims that Samsung laptops, including the Galaxy Book, Galaxy Book Pro, and Galaxy Book Pro 360 are getting really, really hot even when performing basic functions. Most likely, this refers to things like sending an email or browsing the web.

What’s more, the plaintiff claims Samsung is aware of the problem but refuses to address it. Williams is now demanding a jury trial and obviously seeks compensation.

While some devices suffering from overheating is possible, here’s something that Williams should check before accusing Samsung of a widespread problem that it keeps ignoring. Any little problem with the cooling system inside a laptop, and this can be anything from a fan that’s not working properly to the air vents being blocked, can produce such overheating. So before anything, it’s important to inspect the laptop, just to make sure it’s not exhibiting a different kind of problem.

As a side note, no, you’re not supposed to use your laptop while tucked in bed because the heat can’t be dissipated efficiently, in some cases leading to overheating as well.
