Users must power off both the safe and the recalled models

Samsung has recently confirmed that it suspended sales and the recall program of the Note 7 across the entire world, but the firm has also made it loud and clear that everyone with this phone, be it safe or recalled, must stop using it immediately.

In a press release today, Samsung has said that, while it’s conducting the investigation, it’s better for Note 7 owners not to use the phone because the causes of the explosions taking place lately are not yet known.

“Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note 7 or replacement Galaxy Note 7 device should power down and stop using the device,” Samsung said in a press release.

In a separate statement, a Samsung spokesperson says that it takes longer for the company to investigate the latest explosions because this time there were various scenarios when the phones caught fire. Owners whose phone caught fire explained that the device was not charging, which on the recalled Note 7 was the main cause of explosions.

“It is more difficult to analyze the cause of the accidents this time because of various patterns of the accidents,” a company spokesperson was quoted as saying by Reuters. “Samsung is investigating the case in various aspects,” he added, referring to batteries and other hardware as the things that the company is looking into.

Permanent halt of sales

At the same time, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which Samsung has worked with to investigate exploding Note 7 units, claims the South Korean manufacturer has made the right decision by halting sales and recalls.

“No one should have to be concerned their phone will endanger them, their family or their property,” CPSC Chairman Elliott Kaye said in a statement. “While we continue our active investigation into reports of phones overheating and burning in multiple states, consumers should power down and stop using all Galaxy Note 7s. This is the safest course of action.”

Samsung hasn’t yet mentioned whether it plans to suspend sales and production of the Note 7 indefinitely, but we’re hearing that this is indeed a possibility. It all depends on the results of the investigation, sources have said. A second recall is also on the table, but Samsung executives are waiting to determine the cause of the explosion on the safe Note 7 and only then make a decision.
