Galaxy S10, S20, Note10, and Note20 now getting the patch

There was a time when Samsung needed up to several weeks to release its monthly security updates, and in some cases, the company even skipped them completely.

This is how high-end models like Galaxy S smartphones ended up missing out on a lot of improvements, with many users out there left behind when it comes to these monthly security patches.

Times have changed and now Samsung knows how important it actually is to ship these updates on time, so the South Koreans are a lot faster these days.

And for November 2020, Samsung was quite in a rush to release the new security patch, and today, this update is going live for the first wave of devices. Owners of the Galaxy S10, S20, Note10, and Note20 can now download the update on their phones depending on region and carrier.

Android 11 also on its way

This is impressive, to say the least, especially since this rollout starts only a few days after Google pushed the November security patch to the Google Pixel.

At first glance, it’s pretty clear that Samsung has learned from its own mistakes, though it goes without saying that as per the company’s approach, not everybody gets these updates on day one. It all depends on the region, but nevertheless, it shouldn’t take too long before the new patch is live for all devices.

In the meantime, the One UI 3.0 update is still nowhere to be seen, and you’d better not hold your breath for it. And the same thing for Android 11, the update that Samsung is likely to begin rolling out in late 2020, obviously with the Galaxy S and Note models to be the first getting it. If everything goes according to the plan, the rollout would be expanded to more devices in early 2021.
