Today, Samsung announced the exciting Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones in New York and took the opportunity to showcase its new interface Bixby. This isn’t actually the first time that Samsung reveals the new feature, as Bixby was officially introduced a few days ago.

Samsung praised all of the incorporated features that would allow users to activate various apps and services on their Galaxy S8 and S8+ phones, as well as interact with content stored on their devices. In addition, the phone maker claims Bixby is fundamentally different from other voice agents or assistants on the market. The company refers to Bixby’s context awareness features, which are quite similar to the ones that Google Assistant offers.

In this regard, Bixby will be able to understand the current context of an app and provide solutions or actions that could be taken further on. Moreover, Bixby will have the capacity to understand commands with incomplete information and provide a seamless user experience to all.

Bixby excels in four areas

Samsung also focused on making every user experience personal and enhancing the way people interact with their smartphones. There are four main features that Bixby offers: Voice, Vision, Reminder, and Home.

Galaxy S8 and S8+ users will be able to start Bixby by simply pushing the dedicated button or saying Bixby. The feature uses the iris scanner to detect what the user is looking at and provide relevant information, whether they’re shopping online, reading a text in a different language or want to scan QR codes. This also facilitates the use of multiple apps at the same time, without having to launch them individually.

In addition, Bixby sends task notifications at specified times, places and creates reminders for users. Reminders can also be created using voice input, and this isn’t very different to what Samsung used to offer with the S Voice.

Bixby also provides a fluent interface on the home screen and access points for Voice, Vision and Reminder features. In addition, it has customized cards that are based on user behavior and trends.
