Despite all the rumors suggesting an Exynos demise, that is

Galaxy S22 is the next big release on Samsung’s roadmap, and according to people familiar with the matter, the device is projected to see the daylight at some point in February.

However, in the last few days, we’ve seen more and more people suggesting the South Korean company is getting ready for a surprising change under the hood of its upcoming flagship device.

More specifically, Samsung allegedly wanted to give up on the Exynos chip on the Galaxy S22 and therefore offer the device only with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip.

Previously, the company launched the Galaxy S with either an Exynos or a Snapdragon processor depending on the region where the device was sold. So while the United States, for instance, received the Snapdragon variant, customers in Europe were provided with the Exynos sibling.

Exynos chip still coming

Samsung, however, ended up being criticized for this approach, especially because of the difference in terms of performance when it comes to the two chips. The Snapdragon proved faster and more battery efficient than the Exynos, so customers called for Samsung to launch the Qualcomm-powered model in international markets as well.

Despite all the said rumors, however, Samsung will still stick with its classic approach. And while a new Exynos to power the Galaxy S22 hasn’t been announced just yet, a company representative recently confirmed in a statement that its new chip could be announced alongside the Galaxy S22.

“We are planning to unveil the new application processor at the time of launching a new Samsung smartphone,” he said.

The Galaxy S22 is projected to be announced in early February, while the sales to customers worldwide should kick off later the same month. It remains to be seen, however, just how big the impact of the component shortage will end up being in the case of the Galaxy S22 and how it will affect global availability.
