Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 was awarded the title of America’s favorite smartphone by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). The Galaxy Note 5 topped the charts with 86 points, followed closely by Apple’s iPhone 6S Plus and the Galaxy S6 edge+.

ACSI conducted a study on the telecommunications sector in all of its sub-categories and found that the industry gained consumer satisfaction in the survey carried out in the first quarter of 2016.

The results of smartphone models show that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 tablet got the top mark at 86 points, followed closely by Apple’s iPhone 6s Plus with 85 points. Third place is Samsung once again with Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 4 with the same score of 84.

The top 7 smartphones in the index are manufactured either by Samsung or Apple while Motorola Moto G managed to rank 8th with 81 points. It’s no news that Samsung and Apple are the top contenders in the US when it comes to the smartphone market, as this index shows just that.

HTC Desire 626, LG G4, and Leon LTE managed to catch a spot in the index, but they’re certainly no match for the two giants.

Apple ranks most reliable smartphone manufacturer in the US

The study also reveals that Apple is this year’s most reliable smartphone manufacturer among US consumers, after they and Samsung tied last year. Apple gained a 1% increase compared to last year and reached 81 points out of 100 whereas Samsung ranked in second place with a score of 80.

The two smartphone manufacturers are followed by Motorola with 77 points and HTC, which recorded a 3% drop to 75. Apple and Samsung own 70% of the smartphone market in the US.

The two manufacturers will continue to compete for the top spot in the following months, considering that Samsung is preparing for the launch of Galaxy Note 7 and Apple will unveil the iPhone 7 this fall.
