14 DAY TRIAL // According to a new report from The Investor, it would appear the Samsung Electronics is again willing to start producing chips for Apple's iPhone devices, next year.
Samsung already lost iPhone orders to produce chips back in in 2013 as Apple made a deal with Taiwanese foundry TSMC, so it now looks like the Korean tech giant find a way to partnership with Apple again to produce chips for the next iPhone.
The Investor's sources reveal the fact that Samsung recently purchased the most advanced chip manufacturing equipment on the market to produce seven-nanometer mobile processors that will apparently be used only on Apple's iPhone devices.
Kwon Oh-hyun, Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics, is the one that oversees chip businesses, and it looks like he's the one that managed to secure a deal with Apple during his last visit to the Cupertino headquarters a month ago.
Samsung also producing OLED displays for the 2017 iPhone
In the same report, sources in the industry say that Samsung is already the sole supplier for OLED displays that Apple is rumored to implemented in the 2017 iPhone. "The CEO could persuade Apple’s top brass taking advantage of their close ties on OLED," reveals an industry source for The Investor.
So it finally looks like Samsung is back in business with Apple, after a few years pause during which Cupertino only made deals with TSMC, which will now have to share some parts of next year's iPhone orders with Samsung.
However, the report says that Samsung is currently testing its newly purchased chip-making machines, and then it will try to seek final approval from Apple before it starts production of chips for next year's iPhone devices.
Meanwhile over at Cupertino headquarters, it seems that Apple is having trouble with the production of this year's iPhone, which is rumored to be called iPhone 8. Recent reports reveal the fact that Apple is yet to begin iPhone 8 production.
