Samsung held a conference at MWC 2017, during which it presented a short clip promoting the Galaxy S8 and its March 29 launch date. The actual smartphone wasn’t revealed to guests and the press, but the company reportedly showed it off to select partners.

Reports from Korea reveal that the Galaxy S8 received a favorable response from global partners who saw the phone during MWC 2017. The exclusive reveal took place in the lobby of Hotel Porta Fira near the venue where MWC was held in Barcelona, Spain.

Samsung put up a temporary wall to prevent hotel guests and MWC attendees from catching a glimpse of the phone, and only a few invited partners were able to enter the demonstration room and see a prototype of the Galaxy S8.

Samsung partners were very impressed with the Galaxy S8

Samsung partners who saw the device declared for the local media that the Galaxy S8 was “very impressive,” but they didn’t reveal any details about the phone’s features or specifications. They had previously agreed not to disclose any information until the phone is officially announced.

Samsung already sent out invitations to the March 29 unveiling of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in New York and London.

Smartphone manufacturers often hold such demonstrations “behind closed doors” to showcase future devices and get the reaction of retail partners. Before MWC 2017, there were many reports saying that Samsung could host such a demonstration, and it seems that they were confirmed.

Reportedly, this isn’t the first Galaxy S8 demonstration. In December, Samsung had showcased the Galaxy S8 to major carriers and some key details were revealed. The device maker will announce the Galaxy S8 and S8+ on March 29, while pre-orders are expected to start on April 10 and the phone might hit shelves on April 21.
