The Note will live on as a Galaxy S Ultra going forward

Samsung has brought the S Pen to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and naturally, many people saw this as the end of the Galaxy Note series.

After all, the differentiating factor on the Galaxy Note, especially on the latest generations, was the stylus, so in many ways, by bringing this feature to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung has made the Note a redundant device.

The South Korean company has already confirmed that the Note is an abandoned product, but now TM Roh, the President of Samsung Electronics, has provided a little bit more context on the reasons for this decision.

More specifically, the Samsung executive says the company killed off the Note because the device more or less lives on as a Galaxy S Ultra model.

“Starting this year, the Galaxy Note will appear in the form of S Ultra every year,” he said according to tipster IceUniverse.

Samsung first teased the death of the Note in December 2020

TM Roh was one of the first Samsung executives to tease the death of the Galaxy Note series, with a message posted in December 2020 suggesting the company’s phablet already had its days numbered.

“True to our heritage of staying ahead of the curve with trailblazing mobile tech, we’ll be expanding our portfolio of foldables, so this groundbreaking category is more accessible to everyone. And while we’re already known for our revolutionary cameras, we’ll never stop trying to outdo ourselves — so be on the lookout for super-intelligent, pro-grade camera and video capabilities in 2021. We’ve also been paying attention to people’s favorite aspects of the Galaxy Note experience and are excited to add some of its most well-loved features to other devices in our lineup,” he said when previewing the 2021 releases.

Needless to say, the Note has already been ditched in the meantime, so if you’re interested in an S Pen-capable Samsung device, the Galaxy S Ultra is the only option.
