Samsung officially announced the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Edition smartphone at the start of this month, and 2,016 such handsets went on sale soon after. The South Korean giant has long been a sponsor of the Olympic Games, and in order to celebrate Rio 2016, it has just released an advertisement video on YouTube.

The concept behind the video is quite ingenious, and Samsung has found a way to insert the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Edition without giving out the idea that the video is about the smartphone. Instead, it clearly promotes the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

It all starts with a young girl from Australia singing a line of the Botswana national anthem into a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. The ad spot centers around the theme of breaking down geographic barriers and comes with segments of national anthems from multiple countries.

The lines are sung by nationals in their respective languages, and all come together to form a global anthem, with translations being displayed at the bottom of the screen.

The video ad features athletes from all over the world

Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, has stated that the anthem is a “reflection of the Samsung brand and our continuous pursuit to break down geographic barriers and unite the world through technology and borderless communication.”

The ad also shows six athletes from around the world, who will also be featured in various digital and social content meant to promote the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Samsung previously announced that it would deliver 12,500 Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition units to Rio 2016 Olympians. Besides, Gear IconX earbuds will also be bundled. Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Edition comes with the same specs as the Galaxy S7 edge, but it features a design that properly promotes the Olympic Games.
