Galaxy M20 could feature a massive battery

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy M20 model might come with a super-large battery pack that would guarantee what could be the best battery life in the company’s product lineup.

The Galaxy M, which is expected to replace models like Galaxy C, J, and On, will most likely be positioned as an affordable mid-range device, so Samsung going for such a large battery is definitely surprising.

But according to a report from AAS, the M20 could become the first Samsung model equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery, with several others to follow throughout 2019.

Specifics regarding its launch date aren’t yet available, but it’s believed the M20 could see daylight in early 2019, possibly in January just ahead of the highly anticipated debut of the Galaxy S10.

Launch in early 2019

If the cited report is accurate, the M20 could measure 156.4 x 74.5 x 8.8 mm and come with an Infinity U display that features a small waterdrop notch on the screen. Notches are something that Samsung has opposed to using until now, but it looks like the company could use this approach at least on its more affordable devices.

Also, there are contradictory reports as to whether Samsung is going to keep the headphone jack on the M20 or not. Most likely, the South Koreans won’t remove the famous audio port just yet, especially given the lower price.

Geekbench data has previously indicated that the M20 could be equipped with an Exynos 7885 processor paired with 3GB RAM and be powered by Android 8.1 Oreo. An update to Android 9 is also expected at a later time.

Samsung using larger batteries on its devices is without a doubt good news, especially as the company is embracing a trend that brings us increased screen estates and new technology. It remains to be seen how much the battery of its flagships would be increased as well.
