Samsung reported $1 billion in transactions in South Korea

Samsung launched its mobile payment service last year in South Korea, and it seems that it has become quite popular worldwide. According to new information, the service is now available in three new countries, and it has managed $1 billion in transactions in South Korea alone.

Samsung has made an official announcement and revealed that Samsung Pay has been launched in three new countries, across three continents, in three weeks. The new regions include Spain, which is also the first market in Europe to welcome Samsung’s mobile payment service.

The second market is Singapore, the first within the South East Asian region, whereas the third one is Australia, the first market to launch within the Oceania region.

The debut of the service marked a significant milestone in Samsung Pay’s expansion worldwide. The company intends to make it available in multiple other markets this year, including Brazil, Canada, and the UK.

Samsung Pay processed more than $1 billion in transactions in South Korea

Injong Rhee, CTO and EVP of Software and Services, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, has stated that “Samsung Pay’s momentum is bringing us closer than ever to a world without wallets.”

Since its launch in South Korea, Samsung Pay has managed to process more than $1 billion in transactions, making the service the preferred option for secure payments.

In addition, Samsung Pay is now supported by 300 major and regional banks and credit unions in the US. Moreover, it also includes services such as gift cards, membership loyalty features, and over 140 retailers participate in the program.

Samsung Pay is available on Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S6 Edge+, Note5, and other premium and mid-range models. Samsung Pay Mini is also expected to reach Android and iOS devices this month. The service is said to be more fluent and perform like a digital wallet.
