It could be launched as part of the Galaxy A series

We’ve known for a while that Samsung was working on a more affordable foldable device, but after not seeing such a model going live in 2020 and 2021, as initially rumored, it now looks like the company is once again ready for the big unveiling.

The information comes from Twitter leakster chuvn8888, who says that a budget foldable phone is indeed being prepared.

Interestingly, Samsung doesn’t plan to launch this device as part of the Galaxy Z Fold series but rather as a member of the Galaxy A.

No further specifics have been shared, but on the other hand, everything could change overnight given the development of this model is apparently in the early days.

Samsung itself teased an affordable foldable

The South Korean company itself promised to bring the foldable form factor to more affordable price points, though at that point, no specifics were provided as to when the device was supposed to go live.

However, this was solid confirmation that a budget foldable device was Samsung’s priority, though it now seems like the company needs more time to make it happen.

“True to our heritage of staying ahead of the curve with trailblazing mobile tech, we’ll be expanding our portfolio of foldables, so this groundbreaking category is more accessible to everyone,” TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics, said (emphasis is ours).

“And while we’re already known for our revolutionary cameras, we’ll never stop trying to outdo ourselves — so be on the lookout for super-intelligent, pro-grade camera and video capabilities in 2021. We’ve also been paying attention to people’s favorite aspects of the Galaxy Note experience and are excited to add some of its most well-loved features to other devices in our lineup.”

Of course, you’d better not hold your breath for the Galaxy Fold Lite to happen given everything can change overnight.
