14 DAY TRIAL // The fact that BlackBerry has been struggling with sales for some time now is no news, but the BlackBerry 10 and the Priv had a very attractive feature, the BlackBerry Hub. It’s a central hub for accessing messages and emails all in one place, and it seems that Samsung may create a similar feature, named Samsung Focus.
A recent report from Sammobile shows that Samsung Note 6 might come with a Blackberry Hub-like feature, dubbed Samsung Focus. The BlackBerry Hub was one of the most appreciated features on Samsung phones, as it integrated various services like email, social networks and instant messages, giving users access to incoming messages, calendar invites and more, from one central location. It also integrated with calendars and BlackBerry Messenger.
The Note 6 might incorporate such a feature and aggregate emails, calendar events, contacts and memos, without having to open specific applications to access each data category. One of the major features on Samsung Focus will be the aggregation of emails, as users would be able to view and respond to emails from multiple accounts. However, it’s unsure if Gmail will be one of them.
All messages and emails in one place
All important events will be displayed on the main screen, including plans for the current or upcoming days, as users can swipe the screen to view events from past days as well. From one central location, users will be able to add calendar entries or manage invites, as well as create memos for tasks that need to be completed.
Samsung Focus will come with a dedicated contacts page for managing emails, messages and invites from specific contacts, making it easier to keep track of tasks.
In order to prioritize messages and notifications, Samsung Focus will provide a feature for marking some contacts a priority and placing messages from them on top. It will also allow users to set priority notifications based on manually selected keywords.
The report also shows that the Samsung Focus will be sporting a clean and modern interface, which will abide by Google’s Material Design guidelines. But it’s unclear if it will come with the Good Lock screen alternative that Samsung launched earlier this year.
It remains to be seen when Samsung will finally unveil the Galaxy Note 6 with integrated Samsung Focus, but rumors say that this might happen in the second half of this year.
