The measure was taken following reports of exploding units

Samsung Netherlands stopped shipments of Galaxy Note 7 smartphones pre-ordered before the official recall was announced. SamMobile reported that shipments of pre-ordered smartphones were supposed to start today, but Samsung Netherlands decided to halt them.

It seems that Samsung Netherlands is waiting for confirmation from the HQ in South Korea that the units are safe to send out. It’s unclear if and when shipments will resume, but it’s very likely that customers from other markets might also have to wait longer until they can receive their Galaxy Note 7 smartphones.

The decision seems to have been made just hours after major US carriers announced that they stopped sales of the Galaxy Note 7. Indeed, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile are no longer selling Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone and will be providing customers with other phones from their lineup.

In addition, customers can request full refunds. Samsung announced that it stopped production of the Galaxy Note 7 altogether. The company also halted shipments of Note 7 smartphones to at least one carrier, Telstra in Australia.

Sales of the Note 7 are expected to resume in Europe later this month

Sales of the smartphone were expected to restart in Europe later this month, but chances are that won’t be happening as some predict Samsung will launch a second recall of the Note 7.

The CPSC is still investigating an incident involving a replaced Galaxy Note 7 that caught fire on an airplane and caused the evacuation of the flight. Multiple other reports surfaced in the US last week and still continue to pop up on a daily basis, some in South Korea and Taiwan as well.

The recall of the Galaxy Note 7 was announced after multiple smartphones caught fire while charging. In the same fashion, replaced Note 7 units emit smoke and go up in flames, but without being connected to the charger.
