Samsung may be the world’s number one phone maker, and while the Galaxy S lineup and the foldable devices are the ones spearheading its offering in terms of build quality and capabilities, the mid-range series is the one that brings home the bacon.

Models included in the Galaxy A-series have long played an essential role in Samsung’s global strategy, and the updates the company released every year served as living confirmation on this front.

Now it looks like the South Koreans might be planning to tweak its lineup for 2023, with GalaxyClub.nl reporting that a Galaxy A74 may not see the daylight next year.

While other Galaxy A models would indeed get a refresh next year, with the A14, A24, A34, and A54 already in the works, it looks like the Galaxy A74 doesn’t actually exist.

As per the aforementioned reports, the decision to drop the Galaxy A74 may not necessarily be surprising, especially when looking at the Galaxy A73 plans. The device went live in a very limited number of regions, or at least, in fewer countries than its predecessor, so the Galaxy A74 being killed off completely more or less makes sense.

In the meantime, Samsung’s entire work is aimed at the Galaxy S23, which is projected to see daylight in February. Recent information that reached the web through unofficial channels revealed that the Unpacked event could take place on February 1, with the shipping to kick off later the same month.

The Galaxy S23 will come in the same versions as the current lineup, so the Ultra will once again be the almighty configuration that most people would want to buy. Of course, major upgrades are planned, including a possible Snapdragon-powered version that could be offered in all markets across the world, not just in the U.S. and South Korea.
