A trackpad will be added to the keyboard cover

Samsung is fully committed to expanding its tablet lineup with new capabilities, and with the release of the Galaxy Tab S6, the company is making a major step towards the 2-in-1 market.

And this step is so big that the South Koreans plan to position the Galaxy Tab S6 as a productivity device, much like Microsoft does with its Surface lineup.

One of the ideas that Samsung turns to in order to boost the productivity side of its tablet concerns the keyboard cover.

As spotted in a leak from @evleaks, the keyboard for the Galaxy Tab S6 comes with a trackpad, so the whole plan here appears to be making the device feel more like a 2-in-1 and, eventually, like a laptop.

Possible launch in August

Most likely, what Samsung plans to achieve is turning its future tablet into a rival to the iPad Pro, which also comes with a keyboard of its own. But on the other hand, the South Korean firm wants its users to always keep their hands on the keyboard, so using the touchscreen should no longer be necessary for simple tasks that can be performed from the trackpad.

There are also a bunch of other improvements that Samsung has in mind when it comes to this tablet, and one of them is a magnetic accessory that would keep the S Pen in place on the back of the device. This means you won’t have to carry the S Pen separately anymore.

Again, this is something that Microsoft has been using for quite a long time on its Surface devices, and it certainly makes a lot of sense when it comes to portability.

Samsung hasn’t provided any info as to when it plans to unveil this tablet, but I expect it to see daylight anytime soon, possibly at the company’s Galaxy Note 10 launch next month.
