Samsung has officially kicked off its migration to triple-lens camera configurations with the debut of the new A7 (2018).

As the company first model to feature this camera setup, the new A7 is a mid-range model that features substantial improvements in terms of hardware.

First and foremost, there’s no doubt that the triple-camera system is the one that’s getting most of the attention. The A7 uses a 24-megapixel auto-focusing lens, as well as an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle (120 degrees) lens, plus a third 5-megapixel depth lens whose purpose is to help with the bokeh effect.

Technically, the A7 will allow users to adjust the bokeh effect in selfie and portrait shots, a feature that Apple has also introduced on the latest-generation iPhone models.

“Get crisp clear photos in both bright and low light conditions. The Galaxy A7’s 24MP Lens automatically lets more light in by combining four pixels into one pixel in low light conditions,” Samsung says in a press release announcing the new model.

Up to 6GB RAM

The device is powered by Samsung’s Exynos chip running at 22. GHz and paired with up to 6GB RAM. The device can be ordered with up to 128GB internal storage, while a microSD card slot allows for a maximum storage capacity of 512GB.

Samsung Galaxy A7 continues to feature a fingerprint sensor, and its 6-megapixel Super AMOLED display is likely to boast the quality that Samsung is already famous for. It comes with a 3,300 mAh battery that should easily get you through the day, and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.

No details have been provided on the pricing of this new model, but Samsung says that it will go on sale in Europe and Asia this fall, so further details are expected soon.

Additionally, the company says that a new phone will be unveiled on October 11, and this could be none other than the eagerly-anticipated foldable model.
