Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S10 will be the company most advanced phone ever released, and needless to say, it will also include the best camera the South Korean firm developed so far.

And part of the camera feature arsenal is likely to be a new feature called Bright Night, which is technically Samsung’s very own version of Google’s Night Sight that is available right now in the Google Camera app.

Night Sight originally launched on the Google Pixel 3, but it was later released for the previous Google smartphones too in a Google Camera app update. Unofficial ports of the same app for a number of other phones, including Samsung models, are currently available as well.

However, these ports aren’t always working exactly as expected, and on some Samsung phones, for instance, these apps crash when enabling portrait mode or the HDR+ enhanced option.

The South Korean phone manufacturer thus wants to provide its customers with the same capabilities but without forcing them to deal with unofficial ports. The Galaxy S10 will launch with a new mode called Bright Night that will allow users to take better pictures in low light, and according to some recent XDA findings, the behavior is likely to be similar to Google’s.

References in the latest Android Pie beta for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 indicate that Samsung wants the camera to “take bright pictures even in very dark conditions, take multiple shots and combine them to get brighter, clearer pictures in low light without using the flash and take bright pictures even in very dark conditions.”

Most likely, this feature will be limited to the Galaxy S10 lineup at first, but there’s a chance that Samsung brings it to other models at a later time, including the Galaxy S9 and the Note 9. Whether or not this is going to happen still remains to be seen.
