Samsung is rumored to release the upcoming Gear S3 smartphone during IFA this year, and it seems that the company's press invites confirm this. While they don't actually mention the Gear S3, they do hint at the upcoming smartwatch.

Samsung's press invite to the conference at IFA 2016 shows two clock hands that hint at an announcement regarding the upcoming Gear smartwatch, according to SamMobile. The press conference is scheduled on September 1, between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm in Berlin.

The new Gear S3 will have the same round design and rotary bezels of the previous smartwatch launched by Samsung. The company is said to release three variants of the Gear S3, namely a Gear S3 Classic, a Gear S3 Frontier, and a Gear S3 Explorer. The third one will come with the option to change watch bands and will include various features for users who have an active lifestyle.

The smartwatch is said to boast an altimeter, a barometer, a speedometer, and an integrated GPS. The barometer inside the Gear S3 would allow users to measure atmospheric pressure and view readings in hPa units on the display.

Samsung Gear S3 could come with a larger display compared to the Gear S2

In addition, users would be able to use the speedometer for measuring current speed, calculating average speeds, and more. The watch is said to sport a larger display compared to the Gear S2.

It's about time Samsung released a new smartwatch, considering that the previous Gear S2 debuted last year. It ran Samsung's own Tizen OS and came in multiple variants: the Gear S2, the Gear S2 classic, and Gear S2 with 3G. They featured IP68 certification, sensors for measuring heart rate and fitness tracking as well.

Samsung is also said to unveil the new Galaxy Tab S3 during the same IFA event.
