14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung announced that is giving early access to select Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung S8+ owners in the U.S. to the upcoming voice-control capabilities of its in-house built Bixby intelligent personal assistant.
Bixby is an intelligent interface designed by Samsung to simplify the way you interact with your Galaxy S8 or S8+ smartphone, and the new voice-control capabilities will make it possible to do certain tasks on your device a lot easier by using nothing but your voice. If you're living in the U.S. and own a Galaxy S8 or S8+ phone, Samsung invites you to sign up and participate in the early preview test.
"We see Bixby as an intelligent interface for your phone — an integral part of our connected ecosystem,” said Injong Rhee, CTO and Head of R&D, Software and Services, Samsung Mobile. “From phones, to televisions, to refrigerators, we think that Bixby will provide users with a simpler, more intuitive way to control their favorite devices, and live a more connected life.”
Bixby's new voice capabilities are coming shortly
Samsung launched the Bixby intelligent and personalized assistance specifically for Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones, but now the company plans to update its functionalities by adding voice capabilities to allow users of these devices to use a mix of voice commands and touch to navigate through apps, settings, and services. A release date is not set, but it shouldn't be long.
Samsung promises that it has designed the new voice-assisted services of the Bixby intelligent interface in such a way it will make it extremely easier to complete complex tasks across various apps that you might have installed on your Galaxy S8 or S8+ phone. For example, you can tell Bixby to create a photo album that contains all the photos you captured a week ago and share it with your friends.
Taking a selfie and sharing it via a text message to someone in your contacts is also just one voice command away with the upcoming Bixby update, as well as sending your current location to your friends and later remind you where you parked your car. The possibilies are endless with Bixby, and Samsung plans to add support for more languages, third-party apps and devices, and other useful features.
