Samsung has just announced the new Galaxy Tab S3 tablet, but the company also unveiled the Galaxy Book, a rival to Microsoft’s Surface. The tablet comes in two variants, depending on display size, either 10.6 inches or 12 inches.

Samsung says that the Galaxy Book “caters to productive on-the-go professionals who are looking for a powerful computing device that isn’t tied to the desktop.” The tablet’s design is quite versatile, making it easy for users to transform it from tablet into a notebook and get the full desktop experience anywhere they go.

The specs for each variant are slightly different. The 12-inch model runs a 7th-generation dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, clocked at 3.1GHz, while the 10.6-inch variant has the dual-core Intel Core m3 processor, clocked at a lower frequency of 2.6GHz.

Both tablets have 4GB of RAM

The 10.6-inch variant has 4GB of RAM, the same as the Galaxy Tab S3. The tablet comes with 64GB or 128GB of internal memory, while the 12-inch variant is available with 4GB of RAM and 128GB, or 8GB of RAM and 256GB of memory. Both models have microSD slots for cards of up to 256GB capacity.

The Galaxy Book 10.6-inch model has a 5MP camera, while the larger 12-inch unit has a 13MP camera and a 5MP sensor. Both tablets have USB Type-C ports and run Windows 10. When it comes to batteries, the 10-inch model has a 30-watt hour battery, while the 12-inch variant has 39-watts.

Samsung says the battery should last for about 10 hours on both models and quick charge support helps with charging the battery faster. The two tablets come pre-loaded with Samsung Notes, Air Command, and Samsung Flow.

The Galaxy Book will support Samsung’s S Pen stylus and have all the latest features for enhancing the user experience. The tablets will also come with large and tactile keyboards. Samsung has yet to confirm pricing and availability for the Galaxy Book, and they will depend on the market.
