Samsung may be the world’s number one smartphone maker, but there are many other products that bring home the bacon for the South Korean company.

In the United States, for instance, Samsung’s refrigerators are selling like hotcakes, but unfortunately, they are also the ones receiving the most safety complaints.

A report from USA Today indicates that since 2020, Samsung has been the leader in terms of complaints as well, with no less than three in four complaints filed since 2020 actually targeting the South Korean firm.

In case you’re wondering why Samsung’s refrigerators are attracting so much criticism, it’s all because of problems with over-freezing, water leakage, and even fire hazards. Furthermore, some customers said the refrigerators ended up running above the proper temperature, eventually altering the quality of the food and causing stomach-related problems.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is already looking into the whole thing, according to the aforementioned report, and the investigation is ongoing, with no ETA as to when the conclusion could be announced. A recall is also yet to be launched, so in theory, whenever customers are coming across problems with their refrigerators, they should reach out to the company. Some say they did, but never received any compensation from the company.

In the meantime, a Samsung spokesperson says the company continues to pay particular attention to quality, claiming millions of customers in the United States already love their Samsung refrigerators.

“Millions of consumers across the United States enjoy and rely on their Samsung refrigerators each day. We stand behind the quality, innovation, and performance of our appliances, as well as our industry-recognized customer support. Samsung refrigerators also include a best-in-class warranty, including a 2-year icemaker warranty, 10-year compressor warranty, and 5-year sealed system warranty,” the company explains.
