Samsung won’t be announcing the new Galaxy S8 during MWC 2017, the company preferred to organize a separate Galaxy Unpacked event on March 29. Rumors about the upcoming smartphone continue to surface, especially since the South Korean company has just trademarked a new Samsung Hello service.

Samsung filed the trademark at the European Intellectual Property Office, according to GalaxyClub. The filing says that Samsung Hello is “software that enables block users or computers and mobile devices to access, aggregate, organize and interact with content, information and images and topics of general interest to such users.” The description seems to match some of the core features of Google Now.

It also mentions that Samsung Hello is a software application that would provide “personalized features and information based on user’s preferences in the fields of weather, music, entertainment, games, travel, science, health, contact, and social news via voice command and voice recognition.”

Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to come with Bixby AI

Samsung is already rumored to incorporate its own proprietary AI virtual assistant, Bixby in the upcoming Galaxy S8. While this latest filling doesn’t say anything about the Galaxy S8, Samsung Hello could very well be connected to Bixby.

The Hello application could be an extension of Bixby and help Galaxy S8 users get information in an easier way. This is pure speculation for now, and we’ll have to wait until March 29 to see what Samsung has in store in terms of AI technology.

Bixby is said to be made available in up to 8 languages at first, many more compared to Google’s Assistant, which on Google Home only supports English. Germans can use the AI virtual assistant on Pixel and Pixel XL in their native language. With the addition of Samsung Hello, Bixby could become a powerful competitor for Google Assistant.

Samsung’s Bixby is also expected to make use of the Galaxy S8’s camera in order to perform visual searches and recognize text by simply pointing the phone. Surely, Bixby will include other exciting features, which will be revealed next month.
