Samsung could go all-in on Snapdragon chips

Samsung’s questionable strategy to offer some high-end phone with different processors in markets across the world has already backfired after people discovered that the Snapdragon version sometimes offers better performance than the Exynos.

And given the limited availability of the Snapdragon option, it’s easy to see why some people haven’t been necessarily very keen on getting a Samsung flagship.

But the South Koreans are now working to deal with the whole thing, and the approach the company might be planning to use is as simple as it could be.

Tipster MauriQHD reveals on Twitter that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 might launch with only a Snapdragon chip, as the company doesn’t want Exynos to make its way to this particular device. In other words, only the Snapdragon version would be offered across the world regardless of the market.

All-in on foldables

While this is rather surprising given that Samsung would therefore leave behind its very own chip, the company has already announced its full commitment to the world of foldables.

Part of its long-term strategy is also bringing foldables to lower price points that should help improve the adoption of this new form factor and make Samsung the number one player in this market.

“True to our heritage of staying ahead of the curve with trailblazing mobile tech, we’ll be expanding our portfolio of foldables, so this groundbreaking category is more accessible to everyone. And while we’re already known for our revolutionary cameras, we’ll never stop trying to outdo ourselves — so be on the lookout for super-intelligent, pro-grade camera and video capabilities in 2021,” Samsung’s Dr. TM Roh said in late 2020.

The new foldable lineup is expected to be announced in the summer in June or July as part of a dedicated hardware event.
