14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung’s next Galaxy Watch 5 series will include a total of three models, namely two standard devices in 40mm and 44mm sizes, as well as a third configuration that will hit the market as the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
While the South Korean company has so far remained completely tight-lipped on this almighty Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, the information that reached the web lately provides us with a full look at the device ahead of the official launch.
First and foremost, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will essential be an upgraded version of the standard 44mm model. It will measure 45mm, but only thanks to its more rugged case, with the device to also ship with a 1.36-inch AMOLED panel, just like the large Galaxy Watch 5.
The resolution will be 450x450 pixels, and the device will sport a titanium case with sapphire crystal on the display for extra ruggedness. It will also tip the scales at 46.5 grams, which is significantly more than 28.7 grams on the 40mm model and 33.5 grams on the 44mm sibling.
The top-of-the-range model
In terms of features, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will come with little exclusive capabilities. It will be powered by the same Samsung Exynos W920 processor (this is actually the same chip that was installed on the previous-generation Galaxy Watch) and will offer 16GB of on-board storage.
A built-in GPS sensor and NFC will also be offered, though the same hardware will be available on both the 40mm and the 44mm versions of the Galaxy Watch 5. A new sensor that could also measure the body temperature (as a baseline) is also expected.
The biggest upgrade will likely be the battery, as the device will be fitted with a 590 mAh unit (up from 410 mAh on the 44mm Galaxy Watch 5). This should help the device offer up to 80 hours per charge, according to Samsung’s own data.
The Galaxy Watch Pro 5 will be the most expensive version of them all, and in Europe, it’s expected to carry a price tag of at least 469 Euros.
