Samsung is expected to announce the next-generation Galaxy Watch 5 at an event in August, and thanks to several leaks that have been making the rounds lately, we already know several essential tidbits about this device.

However, it looks like the Galaxy Watch 5 is in for another small surprise that many might end up considering quite a shortcoming.

According to Ice Universe, who has a very solid track on mobile scoops, Samsung could give up on the rotating bezel that is offered on the Galaxy Watch, possibly as the company wants to stick with a more traditional approach.

While at first glance this isn’t necessarily such a dramatic change, well, it actually is. The rotating bezel has long been one of the best things about the Galaxy Watch, not necessarily because it made navigating in the OS easier but thanks to the premium feeling it offered.

Of course, you’d better take this rumor with a pinch of salt for now, as Samsung has so far remained tight-lipped on everything related to its upcoming smartwatch.

According to data from Counterpoint Research, Samsung has secured the second place in the global smartwatch market after it managed to push its market share beyond the 10 percent threshold.

“Samsung solidified second place with 46% YoY increase in shipments. It grew significantly in the APAC region with the popularity of Galaxy Watch 4 series,” Counterpoint said, adding that Samsung and Apple also performed very well in Europe as well.

“By region, while most major regions grew YoY, only Europe recorded flat growth. Although Apple and Samsung continued to grow year-over-year, other major brands such as Garmin and Fitbit performed weakly in the European market during this period,” Counterpoint Research explained.
