Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is one of the most anticipated smartphones to be announced next month and information about the upcoming device continues to pour in. Yesterday, an image of the Galaxy S8 leaked online and it reveals that the phone could have customization options for onscreen buttons.

Samsung will ditch the home button on the upcoming flagship phone and replace physical buttons with onscreen capacitive ones. Leaked images have shown what these buttons might look like and Android Police noticed that they could actually be customizable.

The onscreen buttons on the two presumable Galaxy S8 phones appear to have different arrangements. One model shows the back key on the left, while the other reveals that the back key is positioned to the right side. The back capacitive key on Galaxy S7 and 7S edge phones is located on the right, as compared to smartphones that run stock Android.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be announced on March 29

Take the information with a grain of salt, as nothing is certain until the phone is officially announced on March 29. But if Samsung does employ this move, it wouldn’t be the only smartphone maker to do so. LG has been offering robust customization options for onscreen navigation buttons and some phones with physical capacitive buttons let users change their functions.

Huawei’s Emotion UI is another example. It allows users to select a combination of navigation buttons out of four possible options. Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ phones will surely come with lots of innovations, including the highly rumored Bixby virtual assistant.

Moreover, the phones are said to run the latest Android Nougat version and have 4GB of RAM and Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 SoC. They are expected to have 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Quad HD displays and 64GB of internal memory, as well as IP68 certification against water and dust damages.

The phones will be announced on March 29 and should hit stores on April 21.
