Specs and features inside the unannounced Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ aren’t exactly a secret, as information started leaking a few months ago. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ running Snapdragon 835 platform have already been spotted in benchmark, so now it’s time for the S8+ with Exynos 8895 to take the spotlight.

The Galaxy S8+ (SM-G955F) running Samsung’s latest chipset, the Exynos 8895, was recently spotted on Geekbench, where it recorded a single-core score of 1978 and a multi-core score of 6375. We’ve dug up the scores for Galaxy S8+ running SD835 and concluded that single-core performance is roughly the same, while in the multi-core test, Qualcomm’s platform recorded a slightly lower score.

It’s worth mentioning that such benchmark scores can’t be considered standards, as real-life performance depends on multiple factors. However, the results do offer important information when comparing the performance of one handset with another.

Exynos 8895 delivers higher performance with lower power consumption

The Geekbench listing reveals that the Galaxy S8+ model runs Android 7.0 Nougat and has 4GB of RAM. The Exynos 8895 SoC inside is an octa-core chipset based on 10-nanometer FinFET process technology, which offers up to 27% higher performance with 40% less power consumption compared to the previous 14nm technology.

The chip supports five carrier aggregation and delivers improved graphical performance, while reducing latency from 4k VR, thanks to Mali-G71 graphics processing unit. Samsung has revealed that the chipset performs 60% better than its predecessor and can record and play back video content up to 4k at 120fps.

Exynos 8895 SoC will also have dual ISP support for dual camera, but that doesn’t mean that the Galaxy S8+ will actually come with two sensors on the back. Samsung will most likely use the chipset in other premium smartphones, hopefully some that have dual-camera setup.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will see the light of day during the Unpacked unveiling event on March 29, while the phones will reach shelves running either Exynos 8895 or Snapdragon 835 platform, depending on the market.
