Samsung’s latest flagship undergoes a brutal treatment

Pre-orders for Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, have been live since late last month, while the phones will be released on April 21. T-Mobile recently informed customers that the Galaxy S8 might arrive early on April 19.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are some of the most anticipated smartphones of this year, as many anxiously await their arrival next week. Until then, it seems that some have gotten their hands on a few units earlier.

YouTube channel What’s Inside posted a video of the Galaxy S8 being subjected to rather unorthodox treatments. The video shows the Galaxy S8 being dissembled for the purpose of revealing its internal components.

The battery unit inside the Galaxy S8 was exposed

The video begins showing two large suction cups placed on the front and back panel of the device, with the purpose of removing one of the panels. There are multiple ways of going about this, and clearly this strategy isn't the most efficient on the Galaxy S8 as the cups didn’t help much with detaching the back panel, requiring the use of a special tool for removing the glass back side.

Once the back was removed, the internals were revealed, including the rear camera with OIS, battery unit, chipset and everything else. After its internal components were inspected, the video shows the Galaxy S8 being subjected to a brutal treatment and getting sawed in half, at which point the battery starts expanding, but doesn’t catch fire.

An interesting piece of information is that although the battery was nicked and pocked with a razor blade, the unit doesn’t catch fire and no sparks were observed. This means that Samsung did bring major improvements to the battery inside its newest flagship. Of course, this video is intended for entertainment purposes and reveals a non-scientific finding. After the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ arrive next week, more such videos will surely surface online.
