Another report coming from The Investor, citing brokerage analysts, states that Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8+ flagship devices aren't selling as fast last year's Galaxy S7 smartphones.

Samsung Electronics started the sales of the much awaited Galaxy S8 and S8+ Android-powered smartphones in late April, and now, two and a half months later, it would appear that the South Korean electronics manufacturer sold 20 percent fewer devices than it sold last year with Galaxy S7.

In numbers, Samsung sold 9.8 million Galaxy S8 and S8+ units in the first two months, which is about 20 percent less than the 12 million Galaxy 7 units sold last year. The analysts said for The Investor that the cause is mainly due to the highly saturated smartphone market, rather than the product's quality.

However, Samsung announced in mid-May, three weeks after the official launch, that the global shipments of its Galaxy S8/S8+ devices exceeded 10 million units. "Since the 10 million shipment, Samsung is not revealing sales figures possibly due to slowing sales,” said the local analyst. "We assume the S8 is selling less than the S7."

Samsung reportedly reduced supply orders for various smartphone parts

Citing an unnamed industry source, The Investor says in its new report that Samsung Electronics also reduced supply orders for various smartphone parts, suggesting slower Galaxy S8/S8+ sales. However, Samsung's Korea-only Bixby intelligent interface or the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 could also be the cause.

The Investor contacted a Samsung official in regards to the slow sales of the Galaxy S8, but he apparently refused to compare the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S7 sales directly, saying that S8 started selling in three key markets first. "We estimate S8’s sales volume to be similar to that of S7 for now," revealed the Samsung official.
