14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung will announce its newest flagship in just a few days, but considering the latest leaks, there’s not much that we don’t know about the Galaxy S8. In addition, AnTuTu just confirmed the specs inside both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.
AnTuTu released snapshots of the two phones running benchmark tests on the platform. The SM-G950F is the code name for the international variant of the Galaxy S8 running Exynos 8895, while G950U is the unlocked model with the Snapdragon 835 platform on board, which should arrive to the US.
Respectively, the SM-G955F and 955U denote the international and unlocked version of the Galaxy S8+ with either Samsung’s own processor or Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon platform. Now that we clarified the code names, we can say that the spec sheets confirm the rumored features on the two phones.
More megapixels for the front sensor, improvements for the rear camera
Both smartphones will come with an 8MP front camera, compared to the 5MP on its predecessors. The rear camera will have 12MP with f/1.7 aperture, dual-pixel autofocus, OIS and 4k recording. Therefore, Samsung decided to keep the same resolution on the main camera, but bring some improvements in terms of onboard features.
Screen resolution is 1080x1920, or 1080 x 2220 for the listed models. It is believed that Full HD is the default display resolution, while 2960 x 1440 pixels is the top option. Aspect ratio could be 18.5:9, similar to the LG G6.
There are no surprises in terms of RAM capacity and internal storage, the two phones will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of memory with the option to expand it using a microSD card. Android 7.0 Nougat will be offered on the new flagship, together with Samsung’s own virtual assistant Bixby.
With the help of Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895, the Galaxy S8 is surely a powerful smartphone. Recent listings showed the phone scored impressively high on many benchmark platforms, even topping the chart on AnTuTu.
