Samsung’s next best thing, the Galaxy S7, is bound to appear earlier next year. Usually, the Korean tech giant unveils a new flagship Galaxy S phone during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

But in 2016 Samsung plans to move things along as it did with the Galaxy Note5, which got unveiled before IFA 2015, when the company usually rolls out a new Note device before the whole world.

This year, the company took the world by surprise when it unveiled the Galaxy S6, which shun the Snapdragon 810 chipset and took up the Korean’s tech giant own chipset, the Exynos 7420.

The Snapdragon 810 can be considered one of Qualcomm’s biggest flops, as the chipset has been plagued by overheating issues ever since its inception and the producing company couldn’t find a way to fix the problem.

The US and China will get the Snapdragon 820 version of the Galaxy S7

But next year, Samsung is whispered to have a change of heart and go back to Qualcomm, at least for some Galaxy S7 units. We’ve told you before that the Korean tech giant is in the process of avidly testing the Snapdragon 820 to determine whether the platform is problem-free

We already know that the bulk of the Galaxy S7s will be powered by Exynos M1 chips, but according to a new report, some countries will be getting only Snapdragon 820-powered models.

Reuters, who is citing industry sources talking to South Korea’s Electronic Times, reveals that the Galaxy S7 models that are to be sold in the US and China are bound to take advantage of the Snapdragon 820, while other markets will see the Exynos-based units.

Rumors about the Galaxy S7 have been floating around in the last few weeks, so we can tell you the upcoming flagship is expected to arrive in two versions, one with a regular, flat display, while the other will take advantage of a curved screen, just like this year’s Galaxy S6 duo.

Word on the street also has it the phone will feature a magnesium alloy unibody and a dual-camera setup. Last but not least, speculation indicates that the Exynos M1 variant will only benefit from 3GB of RAM, while the Snapdragon 820 model will arrive with 4GB of RAM.
