Samsung's next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S7 is just a few months away if we are to believe the latest rumors coming from Korea.

The folks over at SamMobile report Korean publication ETNews cites sources familiar with Samsung's plans claiming the company is determined to come forward with its next high-end smartphone ahead of the competition.

Usually, most handset makers unveil their flagship smartphones for the first half of the year in late February / early March, during Mobile World Congress (MWC).

The next flagship smartphones for the second half of the year are usually announced in September at IFA trade fair.

Samsung was no exception to this rule until this year when it decided to bring the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ a few weeks earlier than we expected.

An earlier announcement for Galaxy S7 is very possible

The Korean publication mentioned earlier suggests that this could happen again, but this time with the Samsung Galaxy S7, which is supposed to be launched as early as January.

However, the flagship handset won't be announced during CES 2016 (Consumer Electronics Show), but a few weeks after that, on January 19.

That's still a few weeks ahead of MWC, the place where other companies are expected to unveil their most powerful smartphones.

Not much is known about the Galaxy S7 in terms of specs, but Samsung plans to introduce a few revolutionary technologies with the device.

For example, reports claim the smartphone might be fitted with an ePoP chip that would implement all the major sensors on a single die, which in return should greatly enhance efficiency.

Also, the Galaxy S7 is expected to include a similar 3D Touch technology launched by Apple with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s+.

It will have a USB Type-C port, a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera with a brand-new sensor. The Galaxy S7 might be available in three variants, each running different CPUs inside.
